Children who are easily distracted can be motivated and held accountable without causing significant battles with parents. There are several small, realistic guidelines that can assist the parent when dealing with these situations.

The first step to helping a distracted child is to understand that too many stimulants will increase the distraction level. Parents can help by creating environments and providing positive, non-threatening guidelines that will place focus on the tasks at hand.
